流行滾搖樂的先鋒Bon Jovi傳奇開始於1980年初的新紐澤西洲，一位有抱負的搖滾巨星JonBongiovi和當地一群卓越的音樂家錄製了一支叫做"Runway"的單曲，由於這首歌並在當地的電台受到強烈的播放，而讓Bongiovi動了要組一個固定的樂團的靈感，在與吉他手Richie Sambora，貝斯手Alec John Such，鍵盤手David Rashbaum和鼓手Tico Torres組成，Bogiovi改名為Bon Jovi而完全成為他在舞台的新名字，同時也成為樂團的名稱。同一時間Bongiovi的好朋友鍵盤手Rashbaum也改名為David Bryan。
